Bamboossage
“Sticks and stones may break my bones but words can never hurt me,” calls a child to the playground bully. Chances are, the bully is not envisioning a deep tissue massage. But, at Back in Balance in Canton, sticks and stones are exactly that – tools that enable massage therapists to deliver increased circulation, relief of sore muscles, and a deep state of relaxation to their clients. The sticks are warmed bamboo and the stones are water heated stones of varying sizes. By combining two popular techniques during one massage session, we’re able to maximize our clients’ deep tissue massage experience.

A relative newcomer to the massage therapy scene, Bamboossage® is a table massage during which the therapist uses warmed bamboo of different lengths and diameters to roll, knead, and relax muscles with deep tissue techniques. Bamboossage® delivers relief of overused and sore muscles, as well as increased circulation and relaxation. Hot stone therapy involves the application of water heated stones to key points on the body. Used during a massage, the stones give a deep massage and create a sensation of comfort and warmth. The direct heat relaxes muscles, permitting the massage therapist work muscles more deeply than with traditional massage. In addition, the warm stones expand blood vessels, pushing blood and unwanted waste materials through the body. There is a sedative effect on the nervous system which ensures that every cell in the body receives more oxygen and nutrients.
